Finding your way around¶
This page covers the sidebar, moving through a long conversation, following an agent’s tasks and subagents, and the home page.
Moving through a conversation¶
On a wide enough window with a mouse or trackpad, a rail of marks runs beside the chat, one mark per turn. Point at a mark, or focus it with Tab, to see that turn’s question and the start of the agent’s reply. Click it, or press Enter, to jump to the turn. The arrow keys move between marks, and Home and End go to the first and the last. On a narrow window or a touch screen, scroll the conversation as usual.
While the agent works, the chat follows new output. Once you scroll up, it stays where you are reading, and Back to bottom above the composer takes you back to the end and resumes following. A dot on the button means new output has arrived.
Tasks and subagents¶
When an agent keeps a task list or delegates work to subagents, the Tasks and subagents window shows them for the selected turn; the button in the task header reopens it after you close it.
Tasks shows the agent’s checklist with each item’s status.
Subagents shows each delegated agent’s assignment, model and latest state, and under Returned to the main agent, the reply the main agent received.
Choose a subagent in the window, or Switch to subagent › on the call that started it in the chat, to read its own conversation. From there, View trajectory › opens its steps in Trajectory, where Show steps from narrows the steps to one subagent or shows All agents. Which agents use subagents is listed in Agents and models.
The home page¶
The home page shows your avatar and up to three suggestions for writing clearer requests.
Avatar. Unless you upload a profile photo in My Settings, your avatar is a Pokémon companion that stays the same for your account. On the home page, its colors and badges show the kinds of work in your 50 most recent requests, such as frontend, testing or security. They are worked out each time you open the page: nothing is stored, and your memory settings do not affect them.
Suggestions point out what your recent requests tend to leave out, such as how to check that a change works, or the steps to reproduce a failure.
